Paula's Pictures, 8/8/02

These are some pictures I took in August of 2002:

Paula started the day off real happy - her sister Amy stopped by and they made "no bake" cookies. In addition to really enjoying Amy's company, Paula ended up with a huge stack of cookies, which probably aren't on her diet.

Then later on, the kids stopped by for dinner. Sarah brought both dogs with her, so I got out one of my brand-new "super soakers" to make sure it worked.

We're still having problems with raccoons getting into our attic and outside soffits. I'm all ready to close everything up, but I don't want to trap any raccoons in the soffits and attic. So I decided to go up in my attic and spray some really vile smelling junk towards the soffits. I figure by spraying the stuff from inside the attic it will keep the raccoons from entering the attic again, and maybe even convince them to leave the soffits. I originally got one of those homeowner insecticide sprayers, but it doesn't spray the junk far enough. But a Super Soaker sprays far enough... and because it is August, the things are on sale. So I bought two of them today.

After we finished testing the Super Soaker on the dogs, Chris went upstairs. As he walked upstairs, Paula told us that she wanted to surprise him with her marksmanship when Chris came back downstairs:

Paula sitting in her wheelchair and waiting for Chris.

Chris has very good hearing, so he filled the other Super Soaker and brought it downstairs with him. Paula wasn't real thrilled about that. Looks like a Mexican Standoff, doesn't it?

Paula evidently doesn't understand the concept of a "Mexican Standoff" - she started firing at Chris. Notice the wet spot on Chris' shorts - Paula was a pretty good shot until she got tired.

I believe Chris thinks it is his turn to get even.

Doesn't it look like Chris' definition of getting even with Paula will involve other people? Chris' wife, Carrie, looks like she has some sort of premonition about what's to come. I suspect the fact Chris is carrying both Super Soakers has something to do with that.

Sarah was doing dishes and decided to use the pizza pan as a shield to keep Chris from soaking her. Although you can't really tell from this picture, Carrie decided to use TJ as a shield to keep Chris from soaking her.

It was an interesting sight - watching all these young adults running through the kitchen, into the dining room, through the living room, down the hallway, and back into the kitchen. Round and round and round they went - reminded me of when the kids were in elementary school. Except, of course, when the kids were in elementary school they knew better than to play with water guns in the house.

Sarah using the pizza pan for a shield. TJ using Sarah for a shield. And doesn't Carrie look like she thinks Chris has forgotten about her?

If that's what Carrie thought, she thought wrong.

Chris runs out of water, and everyone breathes a sigh of relief.

Paula checking out the damage she did to Chris. She had a GREAT time!
