Session 1, 2002
Session 1 of Fish Soccer starts Monday, June 3 at 7 PM. Over the course of the 8 week session we'll work on individual and team skills, with the primary focus being on individual skills. The second 8 week session of Fish Soccer will start July 29. We'll continue to work on our individual skills, but will put more emphasis on developing and fine tuning team skills.
About These Web Pages
During our Monday night Fish Soccer sessions, we'll be getting a lot of touches on the ball and move around try to minimize any standing around or discussion - I think just about everyone wants to spend their time working on soccer skills and talking about concepts and strategy.
I'm going to try and use these pages to cut down on the "discussion" time and "chalkboard" time during the Fish Soccer sessions. I'll also try and use them to augment and enhance the things we discuss during Fish Soccer.
Please keep in mind that there are a lot of different "correct" ways for a team to play soccer. The strategies I present are not the only way our teams could play - they are, however, strategies I think will work best for our particular mix of personnel.
Site Organization
If you'd like a particular topic to be discussed here or during Fish Soccer, let me know and I'll see what we can do. My E-mail is rob@ccreations.com
Why Do Fish Soccer - Click Here for words of wisdom that might have come from the magician Doug Henning, the actor Peter Falk, and our buddy Jon Weiss about why everyone on our teams should participate in Fish Soccer.
Session Outlines - Click Here to see what we'll be working on at our next Fish Soccer session (assuming I've taken the time to plan the session). Keep in mind these outlines are just guidelines - I'll adjust what we do during the session based on how things are going.
Getting Goal Side - Remember towards the end of the Spring 2002 indoor season, when I was asking everyone on our teams to mark someone and get goal side when the other team had the ball? Click Here to see what Irish, English, and Italian ESPN commentators would be calling a "totally irresponsible complete breakdown of defense in the penalty box."
